Alfonso Wolbert is a Dutch photographer, architect and sculptor. His photographic practice is rooted in documentary observation and moves towards autonomous, concentrated images in which reality is not merely recorded, but shaped through selection, rhythm and form. His background in architecture and sculpture informs a sensitivity to structure, space, material, light and human presence. Rather than treating documentary, abstract and constructed photography as separate genres, he lets them overlap according to what each project demands. The work unfolds across four related fields: Observed Realities, Distilled Perception, Heightened Presence and Form & Spatial Intelligence. Together they form a documentary-based fine-art practice concerned with how the visible world is perceived, transformed and given renewed presence through the image.
